Mackenzie has been receiving piano lessons since the age of seven, where his passion and love for music began to progress. So much so, he achieved his ABRSM Grade Eight with distinction in 2013, which lead him to study under concert pianist Nicola Meecham at the Royal Welsh college of Music and Drama. Whilst being a Junior Student there, he performed several solo recitals.

Since studying under Dr Murray McLachlan at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he graduated with MMus distinction, Mackenzie has had countless opportunities to work with some of the most distinguished artists in the classical music industry. In 2017, Mackenzie had the privilege of performing a piece written for Piano, Euphonium and Orchestra in Carnegie hall; one of the highlights of his career so far. His accompanying and chamber music skills have been in high demand with artists around the country requesting accompaniment for various recitals and projects He also performs as a soloist regularly, most recently with his performance of Liszt Totentanz Concerto with the Greater Gwent Youth Orchestra in Newport Cathedral. Since studying at RNCM, Mackenzie has received his DipABRSM in piano performance. Additionally, he enjoys being a piano tutor at Terra Nova Prep School based, aided by his many years of pedagogical studies, under Helen Krizos.

Mackenzie has been a very active choral and solo accompanist for many years, accompanying Blaenavon Male Voice Choir and Monmouth County Council Combined Choir, amongst others to which he stood as Deputy Accompanist. He currently holds the privileged position as accompanist at Dore Male Voice Choir, who kindly supported the entirety of Mackenzie's masters studies at the RNCM.

Teaching plays a large part of Mackenzie's career and is a strong passion of his. He has been fortunate enough to teach many talented children, who gain some of the highest marks in the region and receive scholarships at prestigious music schools such as Cheethams School of Music. Mackenzie believes music is accessible to all who have the desire to learn - no one is limited in what they can achieve!
